UIW is a tight-knit community, which also makes it perfect for intramural sports. Students can participate and compete in over 15 intramural and recreational teams for everything from kickball, to flag football, to skeet shooting.
Mission in Action
The University of the Incarnate Word aims to educate men and women who will become concerned and enlightened citizens of the world, and this is best exemplified by UIW's office of Mission and Ministry. At UIW, you never have to go it alone. The University emphasizes the importance of mental health to your growth as both a student and a complete person — that's why UIW Behavioral Health Services offers counseling services both on-campus, and online and over the phone to students, faculty and staff. The Health Services Clinic is also available for walk-ins or scheduled check-ups. Remember: Your well-being is our top priority.
Celebrating The Journey
UIW works tirelessly to expand access to students of all faiths and with a diverse array of life experiences. Many first-generation students and students from over 60 countries are proud to call the University their home. UIW is dedicated to improving the social mobility of all who attend. We are also No. 1 in the Southwest among private, four-year universities graduating Hispanic students with bachelor's degrees. UIW strives to provide education to everyone, no matter who you are or where you're from.

Students can also connect with an FYE Peer Mentor — a fellow UIW student who knows what it's like to make the jump to college.
Research and Study
As you might expect, our students spend a lot of time in our libraries. Our main library, the Mabee Library, supports all students and faculty in teaching, learning, and research activities. Library staff work directly with faculty and administrators to create welcoming and innovative learning and research environments for our students. Mabee Library provides access to in-house and mobile technologies, collaborative learning spaces, and reservable seats in spaces designated for quiet study. Group study rooms as well as an open entry atrium are available to students. Library staff are here to provide students with opportunities to excel, and we'll meet you in person and online.
